Don Mullan - The Christmas Truce and Flanders Peace Field Project

In the centenary year of the Christmas Truce between British and German soldiers during the First World War, best-selling author and humanitarian Don Mullan joined Wendy in the studio to talk about this extraordinary encounter of common humanity, when opposing troops sang Christmas carols, exchanged gifts, showed photographs of their loved ones to each other and, of course, played games of football.

To commemorate the occasion, Don is launching the Christmas Truce and Flanders Peace Field Project, an initiative which has been 5 years in the making and has the backing of UNESCO as well as global soccer legend Pelé and Nobel Laureate Archbishop Desmond Tutu.

On Sunday 21st December at 8pm, Christ Church Cathedral, Dublin will host Voices of the Christmas Truce, a moving concert of song, poetry and prose.
