This time last year there was a significant amount of coverage of rescue operations on the Mediterranean, with rescue ships (including those operated by the Irish navy) lifting men, women and children to safety from hopelessly over-filled primitive boats and barges. We haven’t heard much coverage this year, but apparently these operations are still taking place. Jane-Ann McKenna,the Director of MSF in Ireland speaks to Wendy about the current situation.
